Performance

Up Your Game!

You love to move. You want to jump higher, throw farther, run faster. So, what’s holding you back? It just might be your brain.

Your brain and your nervous system control everything you do. And every time you exercise, whether you know it or not, you’re training your brain.

Those habits set your range of motion, maximal strength, endurance and movement patterns. That’s why, when it comes to achieving optimal performance, it’s not enough just to work your muscles. You need to retrain your brain.

A personal fitness coach specializing in neuroscience-based assessments and drills, I train teams and athletes to maximize performance by addressing the root, neurological issues that cause athletes to plateau. I assess vision, vestibular fitness, movement patterns and mechanics and past injury, making simple, nervous system-focused corrections to help you achieve your performance goals. Changes become automatic and your movement will become more fluid. And with brain training, improvements happen faster and last longer.

Whether you want to go stronger, faster or farther, there’s only so much you can achieve by pushing yourself harder. The rest takes brain power. Schedule a consultation to find out how we can train your brain and nervous system to make you faster, more efficient and more powerful.

Individual and small group sessions. In person and online.

recovery

Change Your Body? Change Your Mind.

You’ve recovered from injury, but you’re still feeling it: restricted mobility, weakness, tightness, pain. These lingering symptoms don’t mean that you haven’t fully recovered. When you just can’t return to 100% after a surgery or injury, there’s something else at play: The body heals, but the brain remembers.

Your brain and your nervous system are responsible for everything you do. Whether you know it or not, they are making assessments about how strong you are, how tight you are, what your range of motion is and how much pain you feel. When the body has experienced injury, the brain and nervous system become more sensitive to all the signals coming from the affected area and perceive them as “painful.” The result: a signal to stop moving.

All of this happens within our primitive brain, the part of our nervous system that tells us to steer clear of danger. If you don’t take that part of the nervous system into account when addressing recovery, it won’t matter how many weights you lift or how much rehab you do: Your brain will say Stop!

As a personal trainer specializing in neuroscience-based assessments and drills, I work with you to address the root causes of delayed recovery from injury and surgery, offering simple, targeted corrections to get you moving again. Assessing your visual system, vestibular system (balance), and proprioceptive system (movement), I will retrain your brain to understand that it’s ok to move your ankle, knee, elbow, neck–whatever part ails. Brain training gets you beyond what rehab can do, returning you to the strength and mobility you had before–and stronger.

Life is too short to live with ongoing restricted mobility or pain. Schedule a consultation to find out how we can train your brain and nervous system to let go of the past and let you start living your best life again.

staying strong

Don't Slow Down!

You work hard. You live well. And you’re not going to let a few more birthdays slow you down.

You may have heard that, as you grow older, your body grows weaker, more fragile and more vulnerable. But physical vulnerability isn’t an inevitability of the body. It’s a learned state of mind. If you want to age with strength and confidence, you need to do more than tone up your muscles. You need to tone up your mind.

The brain and nervous system control everything we do. And they remember everything that has happened to our bodies. Over time, the record of our physical traumas and stresses dictates the way we move through the world, restricting mobility, reducing strength, causing chronic pain. But we can reset the clock on aging by retraining the brain.

As we get older, it’s more important to stay active in more intentional ways, paying attention to how we’re moving to keep bones and muscles strong. As a personal trainer specializing in neuroscience-based assessments and drills, I help you build confidence in your mobility as you get older. Assessing your visual system, vestibular system (balance), and proprioceptive system (movement), I will give you simple, targeted corrections to resolve chronic pain, extend your range of motion, strengthen your muscles and bones and prevent falls.

You can’t afford to move through life without confidence. Schedule a consultation to find out how we can train your brain and nervous system to move well and move freely so you can keep doing everything you love to do.
